When considering moving data to XML, enterprises often face challenges deciding when to use a standardized DTD or schema, and when to put the time and effort into creating their own. This presentation will look at some simple data modeling exercises that can help an enterprise determine if DITA is the right tool for their data.
There will be a brief review of DTD and DITA syntax to insure understanding of the sample files, followed by a discussion of document types by enterprises that are currently using DITA in their organizations.
The focus will be on the types of documents DITA is generally used to create, and the possibilities of other doctypes for which it could be used.
